The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is here to serve every high school senior in completing the FAFSA or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA), the first step in accessing financial aid, and money to pay for college.
Marlene Garcia, the California Student Aid Commission ‘s Executive Director, cares deeply about helping students from underserved populations, including low-income students, undocumented students, foster youth, and continuation program students take advantage of the financial aid currently available.
Let ‘s remember, financial aid is available to you whether you attend a four-year university or a community college to transfer to a university. It will even pay for you to attend a community college to receive a short-term career technical certificate. So, don‘t think of college as only a four-year institution. There is something for everyone. Parents, there are many opportunities for you as well.
California is one of the few states in the country that gives financial aid to undocumented students, or students from families with mixed immigration status. As the daughter of a Mexican immigrant mother, I know how challenging the journey can be , said Marlene Garcia, Executive Director of the California Student Aid Commission. We take this privilege of serving you very seriously and know how important it is to protect your privacy and immigration status. Please know that all students have a right to the American Dream and have the right to attend college and receive money to pay for it.
Along with numerous activities throughout the state announcing the availability of funds to help prepare our students, UC Merced and the California Student Aid Commission will be hosting an in-person Cash for College event on Thursday, February 16, 2023, for anyone that wishes to attend. See below for links to register for the event at UC Merced, to obtain general information on financial aid, and to contact us directly.
