Tom Patti might just be what Stockton needs now

Tom Patti is a second-generation Stocktonian. He graduated from local schools and attended Delta College. He is a five-time state and Golden Gloves boxing champion who once considered a professional boxing career, spending time training with the legendary boxing coach Cus D’Amato. He returned to Stockton in 2001 to work beside his father to build Delta Cranes into the preeminent crane company in the San Joaquin Valley.

As a single dad, Tom is passionate about ensuring safe communities and creating more opportunities for families. He understands the importance of affordable education and is working to ensure our youth have the opportunities for higher education or career training.

As a second-generation local business owner, Tom recognizes that small businesses are the job creators of our community – the engine that drives our society. He is a member of the National Federation of Independent Business Owners, Stockton Builder’s Exchange, and the San Joaquin County Farm Bureau. Tom’s vision is smart economic growth with an eye on the future of self-sustaining, energy-efficient communities.

With a lifetime passion for giving back, Tom serves on the Delta College Foundation Board, and served on the Child Abuse Prevention Council, Stockton Crime Stoppers, March of Dimes and the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Committee. In 2015, Tom had the honor of being selected by the African American Chamber as their “Man about Town” in recognition of his many local contributions.

Tom Patti was overwhelmingly elected to the County Board of Supervisors in 2016 and again in 2020. During that time he led efforts to transform how the County deals with homelessness, fought for higher salaries to retain Deputy Sheriffs and Nurses, and helped bring in new jobs and businesses like Tesla and Unifab.

On the Board, Patti has pushed for real action and transformative leadership to change the trajectory of our community. He fought to re-open our schools & businesses, led efforts to get homeless off the street, increased Sheriff patrols and improved public safety, created new programs for workforce and education, expanded job creation & economic development, and programs to support veterans.

Now he is running for Mayor.
Patti’s goals for Mayor are clear: He wants action and demands results.
He’ll push to transform how the city deals with homelessness. It’s time to acknowledge that “housing first” has failed – CA has spent billions of dollars with worse than no results – we’re actually going backward. We need to reclaim our streets, get people into shelters with treatment, and create a real path out of addiction and homelessness.

He’ll push to ensure safer neighborhoods. Stockton was named one of the worst cities in the state for violent crimes. Patti is determined to change that. As County Supervisor, he took unprecedented action when the county started losing Deputies to other communities – he reopened the contract and raised their pay to the median. The result has helped ensure we are keeping the best-trained Deputies who know about and come from our community. As Mayor, he will push to rebuild our Police Department, ensure Officers are paid a fair wage, restore neighborhood police stations and community policing, and crack down on criminals who are preying on our community.

Patti has bold plans to revitalize Downtown Stockton and the Miracle Mile – bringing new venues to give families and young people creative and productive activities, create more jobs, and make downtown an economic powerhouse. Patti will push for redevelopment to create entertainment districts with a community center, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues. This will bring jobs, reduce crime, provide young people with outlets, and generate revenue for businesses and the city.

Patti doesn’t sit back and wait – he pushes for solutions and results. Sometimes that ruffles some feathers, but there is no doubt Tom Patti gets results. And he has shown that he can forge coalitions without getting trapped in ”analysis paralysis” by trying to please everyone.

Tom Patti is a bold leader who is determined to change the trajectory of Stockton’s future. Given the torpor and scandals of the past few years, Tom Patti might be just what Stockton needs

  1. Dear Tom,
Please work toward bringing back ice hockey to Stockton. As a former “hockey mom”, I have enjoyed going to hockey games at the Stockton Arena.
I miss the game here in Stockton. If the league were still here, I would be a season ticket holder!!!
    Thanks
